Love can be such a heavy word to so many. Heavy as in they put a lot of pressure on the concept of what it is. So why don’t we address that right now. What is love? Love is who we are. Love is our core being. Love isn’t always romantic, though it surely can be. Love is the connection at the soul level. It’s recognizing in another what you recognize in yourself. It’s appreciating it and respecting it. It’s honoring and cherishing it.
Love is not jealous – because if it is, it’s coming from your ego. Jealousy creates separation. (Check out my How To Eliminate Jealousy article to understand more about that!) Love can grow and flourish ONLY when you truly accept, respect and honor yourself. Because a love connection with another is just an extension of your love connection with yourself. That’s why it doesn’t envy. That’s why it’s pure. That’s why it exists always – as long as you recognize it within you first.
So if you’re “single” on this “holiday” spend your day recognizing the love you have for you. Immerse yourself in activities you enjoy. Surround yourself with individuals who lift you up. If you’re in a relationship, it’s important to not only fill yourself up with love first – but focus your attention on the love you are sharing and giving to your partner. Rather than placing all your energy on what you should/could receive. Today isn’t meant to upset you, discourage you or drag you down. I used to feel that way about this “Hallmark” holiday. Today is a day representing love. Love is magnified in the world right now because we are all focused on it on ONE DAY. That’s powerful beyond words! Buy yourself flowers, watch your favorite movie, cook your favorite foods and enjoy the love you have for you and anyone in your life today. That is what this day is all about!
