Sometimes we want something so bad and we hold our faith for so long and we always reach this point of peak frustration. This place where we feel like we’ve held on long enough and we feel like we’re losing our patience. This place I like to call the, “Are we there yet” phase. Remember when you were a kid and were in the car with your parents and could hold on only so long before you started asking that infamous question, “Are we there yet?” Usually what followed was, “How much longer?” When you got your answer…truly no matter WHAT the answer was, you usually sighed with disappointment or annoyance because in reality “Are you there yet” actually meant “I want to be there right now!”
Get me out of the car, I’m so over this ‘trip’ and I don’t even care if you tell me we’re 5 minutes away – it’s still not fast enough. I know you’re following…so my point is that we have those same feelings when we desire something for ourselves. We get excited and then we get impatient. I could sit here and preach to you that the impatience is a huge sign you’re almost there – but even though that’s often nice to hear (and it’s true)…it still doesn’t get you there yet. So what do you do? What do you do when you feel like you’re losing your cool, your patience is wavering and now doubt wants to creep in?
You sit tight and you f&cking breathe, that’s what! You slow down. Stop trying to speed sh*t up will ya! Slow down and know that everything is as it should be. Everythings going the correct speed limit. Your desire will arrive at the MOST perfect time – better than the one you planned out in your head. What happens when you speed up the car to get there quicker? You run the risk of getting pulled over…or worse, getting in an accident. We don’t want any mishaps on the way to our dreams…only divinely planned ones and so let God do the driving. You’re on cruise control doll and he’ll hit the gas when necessary. You don’t need to do anything but know that he’s with you, you’re protected, being guided and you will arrive safely at your desired destination at the perfect time, on the perfect day, with the sun shining and not a cloud in the sky.
