What you feed with emotion, you enhance. When you get excited about something and it fills your body with utter joy thinking about it – you enhance it. By enhancing it, you draw more of that wonderful feeling into your existence in many different ways.
But it works the opposite way as well. When you get upset by something, worried or fearful – it fills your body with anxiety and stress. You think about it and you become tense and nervous. You’re giving the fear power. You’re enhancing it and allowing it to grow stronger.
Picture yourself like a superhero shooting beams of light out of your body. It doesn’t matter if it’s towards something positive or something negative – it’s shooting no matter what. When clients tell me they’re fearful of something, my first question is often, “What exactly are you afraid of?” “Why do you think you feel that way?” Usually the answer has to do with some sort of past situation that they have carried with them into their present. Their response usually begins with, “Because the last time I had to go here, (XYZ) happened.” But that was last time. Last time doesn’t equal this time. The past is not the present. One of our biggest battles in our own minds is silencing what has happened before right now. I know that has been one of my own biggest battles as well. You can have all the tools in the world and STILL be your own worst irrational enemy. So today, tomorrow and in the coming months, let’s all take a vow right now and make a commitment to be FULLY PRESENT. If something from the past POPS UP into our mind invoking some sort of emotion – say to yourself, “I choose to be fully present right now.” Let’s work together to shift out of our past-living and into the now. When we’re in the NOW fully and completely, we can be totally grateful for everything we have. Today’s Daily Affirmation:
