Charles Caleb Colton once said, “imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.” I beg to differ and I think Charles would switch up that proverb had he actually been “imitated.” However, it’s usually those who haven’t, that cling to that phrase. Personally, I find imitation to be unoriginal. Here’s the thing – each of us is uniquely different. I know I’ve written this before, but we each are born with a purpose and we each have our own individual hopes and dreams. Why not embrace them? – instead of seeing someone else doing something inspiring and trying to do the same thing. (< < this will result in you constantly seeking some form of happiness that you won’t find until you actually embrace what’s truly inside YOU.)
Now sure, there’s obviously more than one person in the world dreaming to be an actor or a stock broker or some big wig executive somewhere, but what I want to reinforce today is to follow YOUR passion. Don’t follow someone else’s. Don’t follow what someone THINKS you should do. Go after your dreams – chase them down – whatever they are. They belong to you and no one else. They were placed inside your heart and you need to live them. We can ADMIRE and RESPECT other’s abilities, talents and successes, but imitating them is not going to result in happiness, fulfillment or success. Today you need to embrace the real you and the dreams you have for yourself. Today’s Daily Affirmation is:
I respect myself enough to chase down my dreams.
