Slow down! We are all in such a hurry, but what for? As I sat in the doctor’s office waiting room this morning without an appointment, I observed so much for the two hours I waited. Yes, two hours because I was appointment-less and had to wait my turn. As a human, I was frustrated as I didn’t necessarily ‘have’ two hours to spend in a waiting room and well, because I wasn’t feeling well. We tend to be out of balance when we aren’t completely healthy.

As spiritual beings we need to continue to take care of ourselves. Does that mean we’ll never get sick – of course not, we will at times, and it seems that our immune system isn’t the only thing taking a hit when we’re not 100% – our spiritual defenses are down too. My own spiritual mentor used to tell me the Devil works overtime on certain occasions – when we just leave church, when we’re approaching our miracle/blessing/victory and when we aren’t feeling totally healthy. I have taken notice especially this year that each time I feel over tired, run down or flat out sick – I tend to lose my focus on the spiritual tools I use daily. When I finally pieced it all together it made sense – negativity, the Devil, whatever name you want to have for it – takes advantage of the fact that we’re not on the up and up.

So as I sat there in the waiting room I might have been cracking jokes to my friends via text about having to wait – but my spirit understood. It understood there was a reason for that specific amount of time that I waited. Perhaps I was being protected from something taking place when I left there. Maybe I needed to bump into a particular person in that office during those two hours. Those are just some examples but my point is that, that is how the Universe works. That is how God directs us and protects us. He knew I’d call and go see the doctor today. He knew I’d end up waiting. He knew all of this before I knew I was even planning to go.

So SLOW DOWN, breathe and don’t rush. If you’re feeling down, stressed, under-the-weather or just sick – take it easy and stay mindful of yourself. That’s all – just of yourself. The thoughts we think, the words we speak and the energy we put out is so much more powerful than you can imagine. Staying on top of it can indeed be overwhelming when thinking about it, but it’s as easy as breathing. As I watched other walk-ins in the office begin to lose their temper I distracted myself with gratitude. I tried to find or create the humor in it all while focusing on me and not their actions. When I was finally called back I was thanked endlessly for being so patient and kind. People who had waited shorter amounts of time lost their cool and we’ve all been there – but the moral of this story is you are where you are for a reason. Whether you get there fast or have to wait, it’s all for a reason. Be grateful, stay present, and don’t worry about what others are doing. God is for you, not against you. The Universe ALWAYS has your back and everything happening is for YOUR best interest. Today’s Daily Affirmation:

I am right where I need to be. I am thankful for this moment right now.
