Gratitude – a word we’re hearing a lot lately, but do we have an understanding of what it is? Gratitude is not only a readiness to show appreciation for something but it’s also a readiness to return the kindness. You see you can read or hear someone say they are grateful (*feeling or showing thanks) for their life/boyfriend/family/job/friends/dog/etc. – but are they just words or are they actually SHOWING the appreciation?
Let me put it to you this way – the first thing you usually do upon receiving a gift from someone else is say, “Thank You.” Most times you follow that thank you with a hug or a kiss or for some, another kind favor in return. So what do you do/say/think when you open your eyes each morning and see daylight? Mumble and grumble, struggle to get out of bed and get ready for work OR do you wait a second, realize this day was gifted to you and SHOW gratitude for that gift by spreading kindness wherever you go?
Okay, so sure – reading the above might sound super fluffy, I understand that (I handle the cynics of the world daily) HOWEVER, today I challenge you to try it. SHOW gratitude for something like the fact that you even woke up (because some people didn’t!) and just watch what happens! Gratitude is ALWAYS returned in some way, shape or form.
