On days like today (Thanksgiving) people seem to go out of their way to confess their thanks and gratitude for their life and the people in it. But isn’t that supposed to be an everyday thing? Yes. So why do some wait until a holiday with the word “Thanks” in it to voice what they’re thankful for? Because life seems to take over every other day of the year, that’s why. You see on holidays, most people are forced into stopping, taking a look around and breathing in what they’ve been running past on their way to the office. But we should take notes from holidays like this because our expressions of thanks and spirit of giving should be a 24/7, 365 day a year lifestyle.
This is where we’ve gone wrong listening to our egos. We think ‘life’ is about work and money and bills. We think we’ll always be stressed and struggling. We actually believe these lies we create in our heads. But if holidays do anything for you, they should be a huge reminder of the state of mind you should carry throughout the entire year. I’m not necessarily the most festive person. Probably because I feel as if every day is like a holiday. That happens when you do what you love for a living. It never feels like work, you’re always at peace and completely filled with joy living your passion and your purpose. So holidays for me are treated like every other day. I’m grateful, I’m happy and I’m present. But there’s many of you out there who put pressure on yourselves during a holiday. You feel the pressure to impress, to smile and be social, to serve and outdo last year. Let go of the pressure. Release it and let it go. Just be. Just be present and be yourself. Do this everyday – not just on Thanksgiving, not just on a holiday or a special occasion – be who you are and be grateful for that every single day of your life. Express it, share it, feel it on the inside. When you become totally accepting and loving towards WHO you are and what you stand for, your gratitude for your own presence in this world will vibrate out into your interactions with others in your life. So that awareness, that presence and that gratitude you feel on a holiday will naturally take place every day in your life. Today’s Daily Affirmation is:
