I went paddleboarding for the first time today and it made me realize something very significant about life in general. The area of the bay we were paddleboarding in had lots of boats and jetskis coming in and out so the water kept getting choppy. It’s not necessarily hard to paddleboard through the wake or against the current but it takes some adjusting and getting used to.
Just like life. Life isn’t always smooth sailing. The water isn’t always going to be calm. There are going to be times where it gets choppy and after falling off my board today and getting stuck several times as I tried to paddle against the current I realized the best thing to do when the waves come is relax. The moment I eased up on my grip and relaxed my body on the board, I seemed to start moving (and not just in circles lol).
I would start floating forward without a struggle but the moment I panicked or got tense the board stopped or spun in a circle. The most interesting part was when I relaxed so much I sat down on the board and realized I could not only paddle with ease but I went faster. The more I relaxed, the quicker I went. The more I relaxed, the easier it was. That’s how we need to navigate life dolls. Relax, everything is ALWAYS working out for you. Don’t panic or tense up because you just end up at a standstill until you chill out and float knowing you’re fully supported by the Universe. There’s a quote and I don’t know who originally said it but I use it quite often, “When I stop struggling I float,” which couldn’t be more true but I also want you to keep in mind that when you ride the waves of life that come your way, if you just relax they’ll pass you by and you’ll be amazed at what you find on the other side!
